!Classic Classroom Traps
Disguised な-Adjectives Ending in “い” (きれい・有名・嫌い)
きれい (clean/pretty), 有名 (famous), and 嫌い (dislike) end in an “i” sound, but they are 100% な-adjectives!
Never Put だ After an い-Adjective, or な Before です
い-adjectives already carry their own tense, so never add だ. な-adjectives only use な directly before a noun.
いい (Good) Always Shifts Its Stem to よ- When Conjugated
いい comes from よい. Keep いい in the present affirmative, and switch to よ- for every other form (incl. かっこいい → かっこよかった).
